Hi
My Grandfather had this five inch metal Crackerjack Sailor Boy & his dog since before he could remember.
It was never a prize but does anyone know anything about it?
Thanks

Re: Metal boy & dog piggy bank
Sorry, but this isn't Sailor Jack and Bingo. Jack wears a typical sailor suit with pants, no skirt. Also, the hat isn't a sailor's hat and the dog isn't like Bingo. This is a very cute vintage bank, but not who you were thinking. Thanks for posting it.

That is an absolutely lovely bank. I'm no expert by any means, but it appears to be a Victorian era object. That was a time when it was fashionable for children to wear sailor outfits, and also a time when young boys wore skirts/dresses and had long hair. If you do find out more about it, please come back and tell us.
Below is a picture of a young boy in 1884, with long hair and a skirt/dress. He became a famous president in the US.

I'm surprised no one recognized this is a Buster Brown Shoes bank.

I've completely forgotten about Buster Brown . I feel kinda stupid now.
