Hi,
I found this lead pheasant while metal detecting and was wondering if it was a Cracker Jack toy surprise? If it is, would any one now about what year it was given away?
Thanks,
Jim

Dear jrmaclac,
Thank you, for your post to the CJCA Forum. I see that no one has answered your question, so I have asked someone to respond.
I have the sense that this is a toy made by Cosmo/Dowst in Chicago, a major supplier of Cracker Jack prizes back in the day. But this is outside my area of collecting (plastic era and later), so I didn't find information about this specific item. Wish I could be of more help.
Best Wishes,
Jeffrey Maxwell

It could be a Cracker Jack prize; tough to tell, as these pot metal prizes were used lots of different ways. I don't think it's a Strombecker piece, most likely Dowst.
