Hi, I'm new here. I got this Cracker Jack box at a garage sale and was trying to find out more about it and figured this would probably be the place to go. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

This is a real puzzler! The front of this box (picture 1) looks authentic, but there are other things about the box that are suspect. The cardboard looks too clean and in too good of shape to be as old as it is supposed to be. Also, Cracker Jack in the early days was only manufactured in Chicago and New York. I was unable to find a reference to an H. F. Hire Co. in Los Angeles. I consulted Alex Jaramillo, who was the Cracker Jack spokesman for the company when Borden owned it and he agrees with me that this is probably something that was used as a prop in a movie or in theater. Thanks for positing this--I'd love to see a photo of the side you didn't picture.

Thank you for your response! I've included a link to the photo of the other side. I didn't include it the first time because it's pretty much identical to the other side.

I'm obviously very curious about this item as well since there is probably some collector value to it even if it was a prop of some sort. I am looking to sell the item if there is any interest here. Thanks.

Can't tell if your 4 photos show front, back, and two end panels or two side panels. It there anything on the panels not shown?

Thanks--this doesn't un-muddy the water, but it is fun to see all sides. When you bought the box, did you ask the sellers where they got it?

No, they didn't know anything about it.
